The Purple and Gold Writers Collective will deliver a trail of innovative and engaging poetry events in daytime café venues from 21-29 October. Each day a different poet from the collective will become a poet in residence at the specific venue. They will read poems, share stories, and encourage discussion from the audience. Audience members will be invited to share creative ideas and encouraged to join in with creative writing activities.
Taking place during the busy Opera Festival period, these relaxed sessions that ignite the imagination will support positive mental health by offering a pathway for the expression of thoughts and feelings. Festival goers will be provided with some downtime to recoup and reflect on their experience in a creative way. Participants who are not attending the festival will be included in the creativity and fun that is enveloping the town at that time. Themed around place and community, the workshops will provide another dimension to the town during the Festival. The workshops will engage participants in a unique yet familiar way of looking at Wexford, and provide a fresh way in to developing positive placemaking action.
