This is a green therapy creative project to support participants to build mental health and green therapy literacy and skills, through creative engagement. By responding to their own locality and lives and leaving signposts in the community to spaces/places identified by them they will uncover healing potential in their community.
As a pilot project based in County Wexford, we will engage a community group of individuals who are in a parenting, grandparenting or guardian role, including those in active recovery from mental health challenges.
Nearby Nature’ will facilitate the creative exploration and sharing of opportunities for enhancing wellbeing of accessible local natural spaces. The subsequent creation of sustainable signposting will share this understanding and inform the wider community plus enhance the intergenerational experience.
Participants will explore through creative and experiential mediums the potential that local natural spaces can have to support their own wellbeing and that of their families and the wider community.
The project is grounded in the ethos of environmental visual art practices. The creative process will be influenced by the current research available on the benefits of nature on health and wellbeing.
