Transfers - Based on ‘Need’ not ‘Want’
You can make an application for a transfer to another local authority house under certain criteria.
Complete a transfer application form (available from the housing section), giving reasons for the transfer together with supporting documentation such as medical reports.
Applicants will not normally be placed on a transfer list unless they have been tenants in their existing dwelling for two year.
Transfers are looked at on a ‘need’ rather than a ‘want’ basis.
Some Reasons Why a Transfer May be Granted
- Overcrowding
- Downsizing
- Meeting disability criteria.
Some Reasons Why a Transfer May be Refused
An inspection of your home will be carried out when an application is received.
A request for transfer will be refused if
- The property is not being maintained
- You are in rent arrears
- There is a history of anti social behaviour complaints made against you
