Green Picnic – this campaign will run over the Summer months in conjunction with Waterford City and County Council. The Summer will see an increase number of people holidaying at home, taking day trips and visiting all public amenities in our Counties. On a busy warm weekend in either County, amenity areas struggle to accommodate litter and waste generated from the average picnic.
The Green Picnic Campaign is asking people to ‘Think reusable not Single Use’ and to bring their litter home. The campaign will emphasise that items can be brought from home and not everything needs to be single use. We aim to promote positive and active participation in a campaign that will focus on the theme of reuse and encourage all to take responsibility for their actions and their waste.
The campaign will be focused across social media, radio and press. Included in the campaign are 2 competitions;
- a competition run by Refill Ireland to install a refill bottle water station in a business in each County.
- Competitions on social media and radio to win beautiful picnic hampers.
A series of four online workshops with speakers and a competition to win a beautiful picnic hamper are also elements of the campaign.
